My Background
I was born on 6th December 1975 in Pumwani Maternity Hospital, Nairobi. I took my primary school education in Ofafa Jericho primary school between 1981 and 1990, through which all this period I resided with my parents at Jericho estate.
Between the years 1991 and 1994 I was in Naivasha Mixed Secondary school where I undertwent through my high school training. During this period I resided in the school, going home only when school closed i.e. went on holiday break.
Life was not without its challenges. I did not manage to join the university as my grades were slightly lower than the ones required to join. I never gave up and with the support of my parents I got an alternative which to this very day I thank God for.
My childhood dream had always been to work in the hospitality industry and the choices I made then built a passion in the same. Between 1995 and 1998 I joined The Kenya Polytechnic where I undertook a Diploma in Catering and Accommodation Technology.
Within this period, in 1996, I had extensive training in the hospitality industry, part of which I took six months training at Aga Khan hospital's kitchen, housekeeping, laundry, stores and purchasing and service.
In 1997, had another opportunity to be attached in a five star hotel, Travellers Beach hotel in Mombasa where I was exposed in various areas of the hospitality management i.e Food Production (kitchen), food service (restautant, room service & bar), front office (reception and reservation), housekeeping (laundry and rooms), controls and cashiers.
After the industrial attachment I went back to wind up my training and did my final college exams in 1998
I was offered a job in a restaurant between 1998 september and 1999 March as a waiter.
Between 1999 May and 2000 July I joined Kenya Technical Teacher College and did a one year technical education diploma. Within this period I was exposed to vigorous traaining as a technical teacher having taken time to undergo through teaching practice at Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology.
Soon after graduation, in August 2000 I was called for an interview at Research International East Africa Limited for the position of a research editor. With my willingness to take up new challenges and readiness to learn I was picked for the position. I worked for the organisation with precision and showed much commitment though my heart was not fully there. For a period of about seven months I worked for the organisation in data analysis and interpretation, data evaluation and data editing.
My life took a turn when I entred into the field of my dreams. In April 2001 there was an opening at Nairobi Technical Training Institute. Required was a person who could teach in the institutional Management department. The position was such that the board of governors was to cater for my salary. I went through a vigorous interview and came out successfully. For the next four years I worked at the institute. As time passed by I tried various government jobs in the same line.
In August 2005 I attended an interview at Mombasa Technical Training Institute. I was successful and this time more settled as I had gotten what I had been fighting for from the time I graduated. I tendered my resignation to the board of governor of Nairobi Technical Training Institute as I accepted the job offer by the Teacher Service Commission.
